Frequently Asked Questions

What is your availability?

I am available most days late afternoon/evening, as well as weekend morning/early afternoons.

Is Telehealth Therapy effective?

Meeting virtually allows you to access support from the comfort of your home or another private location that feels right for you. By meeting through secure video session, we can avoid some common barriers to mental health care such as scheduling conflicts, distance, and mobility challenges. Our sessions are interactive, convenient, and tailored to meet your needs, even when meeting through a screen. Please know that much of what we can do during in-person sessions is available via telehealth- this includes many somatic exercises in addition to traditional talk therapy.

How long does treatment last?

When we first begin therapy, I typically recommend meeting on a weekly basis to support rapport building and avoid having too much time between sessions. Sometimes this approach will lead to ‘playing catch up’ instead of a more streamlined schedule that can help us begin the treatment portion of our work together. With that being said, my focus will always be to explore what best meets your needs- financially, emotionally, and with your availability in mind. During the consultation call, we can decide what works best.

Moving from weekly to biweekly or monthly and then ultimately to transition, is an individualized process. There will be ongoing discussions throughout our work together, including through treatment plan reviews, that can help us decide when transition will occur.

How does Group Therapy work?

Group Therapy allows for individuals experiencing grief and loss to come together in a ‘peer support’ environment. As the facilitator, as well as a fellow griever, I help to guide the weekly discussions while also creating space for organic interactions. There is an initial discussion on ways to keep each member safe and open, though there is no expectation of how much you participate or what you have to share. In our initial intake, we can explore if the group space is a good fit for where you are in your grief journey.

The minimum number of participants to begin a group is 4. Once we have 4 members committed, I will be in touch to share the start date. Group will be held weekly for one hour, typically in the evening. I will touch base with all members to gather possible availability and determine the day/time of group based on majority. This is an open group and anyone is able to join at any time. Expectations of group safety will be reviewed with any new participant.

Do you accept insurance?

I am an out of network provider with insurance. If your insurance plan has out of network benefits, I can provide a superbill that you can use to request reimbursement from your insurance company. I can provide further details during our initial consultation. Periodically, there may be limited opportunities for lower cost options based on specific individual circumstances. Let’s chat more about what option is appropriate for your needs during our consultation.
